MRI stands for magnetic resonance imaging
It is a medical imaging technique used in radiology to form pictures of anatomy.
It is uses strong magnetic field and radiowaves to generate images of the organ in the body.
MRI doesn't involve x-ray.
It is now used in hospitals and clinics for medical diagnosis without exposing the patient to radiation.
For diagnosis the patient needs to enter a narrow confining tube and it is loud.
Partients with some medical implants or other non removable metals inside their body are unable to go MRI examination due to the very high magnetic field which can attract the metal inside their body leading to their death.
Hydrogen atoms are the most used to generate a detectable radio frequency signals that is received by anttena in close proximity to the anatomy being examined
-Hydrogen atoms are naturally abundant in people's bodies and other biological organism particullary in water and fats, for this reason most MRI scan map the location of water and fats in the body.
